It’s Not That Simple Anymore: Engaging the Politics of Culture and Identity Within Environmental Eduthis change in behavioral terms. We do this by interrogating the more recent focus on values and ethics using concepts of culture and identity. In this refocusing, we posit a counternarrative to discourses of EE/ESD as a way to rethink the participation gap within education relative to environment and sustainability.

ESD Projects in Japanese Schools and in Non-Formal Education in Japano be an important player for the local community revitalization. At present, many of the local cities in Japan are becoming unsustainable due to depopulation, aging society and environmental devastation, and ESD is urgently needed there. In this sense, ESD is going to play a major role in sustainable community development into the future.

The Development of Environmental Education Policy and Programs in Korea: Promoting Sustainable Develle EE programs within and outside of schools in Korea. These formal and informal sustainable EE programs have been developed separately but now are linked together for school EE programs. The detailed EE programs in schools and outside of schools will be illustrated with examples.

The Environment, Sustainability and Universities in Indonesia: An Examination of the Nexuslity education/research or ESD when there already is a received concept (i.e. environmental education/research). On the other hand, this chapter argues for synergizing them, suggesting that community-level activities can serve as their meeting point.
