Host Immune Responses to Coxsackievirus B3emonstrate the interplay between the virus and the cell, which ultimately determines both the type and strength of the adaptive immune response as well as whether autoimmunity will follow the infection.

Autoimmunity in Coxsackievirus Infectioncontained viral myocarditis to a pathogenic autoimmune response is made within hours after induction of infection and is characterized by production of a few key cytokines, including IL-1β and TNFα. Many of the lessons learned from study of these models are applicable to human myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy.

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-81302-3ng them excellent viruses with which to engage the problem of how the host environment interacts with specific viral genetics to promote varying efficiencies of viral replication. It is not known how highly virulent CVB strains may arise but evidence suggests such strains are not the norm.

Preferential Coxsackievirus Replication in Proliferating/Activated Cells: Implications for Virus Tro have evolved to undergo productive infection in cells at the G . /S stage of the cell cycle, and to preferentially establish persistence/latent infection in quiescent cells, and we provide possible explanations for these outcomes. Finally, we consider the implications of these interactions for virus transmission and host pathology.
