The Antimicrobial Host Defense of ,pposed to exert an inhibitory influence on the centromedial amygdaloid region. Our data suggest that the amygdaloid nuclei provide a useful model for studies of cholinergic-GABAergic synaptic interconnections in the CNS.

The Antimicrobial Host Defense of ,Activating rather than depressive effects of Ach were observed on the low voltage-activated component of Ca currents. This effect was also antagonized by atropine but is not mediated by a PTX-sensitive G-protein.

Our results indicate that approximately 75% of the cortical cholinergic neurons also express the neuropeptide VIP. Furthermore, we are investigating the expression of Chol-1 in patients affected by diseases such as ALS which primarily involve central cholinergic neurons.

Direct Visualization of the Cartilagempal neurons (Cole and Nicoll, 1984). Likewise, topical application of acetylcholine (ACh) or analogue drugs to the hippocampus produces sustained paroxysms (Baker and Benedict, 1968). Systemic application of blood-brain-barrier permeant cholinergic drugs produces profound convulsant activity resembling limbic seizures (Turski et al., 1983).
