Ring Diagram Contribution to Electron Correlations,the Montroll and Ward formula for the grand partition function. Difficulties in the traditional rg series are pointed out and a new direct method of evaluation is discussed. The ring diagram formula can be derived in different ways without using diagrams.

Stationary States and Noise in the Ballast Resistor, An Electro-Thermal Instability in a Conducting surrounded by a gas, through which an electric current is passed. In this system the homogeneous temperature distribution becomes unstable for certain values of the gas temperature and the current. In this paper we summarize our results and shortly discuss some new ones with respect to the existence of solitary wave solutions.
