Classification Scheme of the Metal-Insulator Transition and Anomalous Metalsrucial role. Critical exponents such as the Drude weight, the correlation length and the dynamical exponent are investigated for both types of the transitions using the scaling theory. Anomalous properties of the metallic state near the Mott insulator are analyzed in light of this classification for the criticality and crossovers.

Core-Level Spectroscopy in Early-Transition-Metal Compoundsnd BIS are also calculated for TiO., Ti.O. and VO., and an important role of the hybridization is pointed out. Finally, some results of a systematic analysis of core-level spectra are given for oxides and halides of Ti, V, Cr and Mn.
