UVR and Role of Pigmentation in Skin Aging and Cancer, effect of radiation exposure. People exposed to solar radiation are differentially affected based on the amount of pigmentation present in their skin. Melanin pigment present in the skin gives the color of skin; i.e., more melanin means darker skin and also absorbs the UVR preventing from its harmful effects.
