Longitudinal Qualitative Investigation into Successful Learning Experiences of Two First-Year STEM M academic interests are elsewhere. This research employed a longitudinal qualitative design to provide in depth understanding of trajectories of first-year university studentsʼ motivation to study English.

Setting the Stage of STEM English for Students needs both inside and outside the STEM educational setting. After describing the background to STEM in Japan and the purpose of the book, this introduction chapter will describe the organization of the book in four sections, each dealing with a separate aspect of English affecting STEM majors.

Corporate Views on English in Agricultural Companies/Industriesnot usually performed randomly to get an unbiased account. This chapter will describe results of three surveys on agricultural companies who recruit from one national university and illustrate whether TOEIC is needed and what type of language skills are required. Viewpoints on corporate English from students and science teachers are also included.

Perceptions of English Needs at a National University: Comparing Students and Science Teachers2008 to 2021, several questionnaires were sent to undergraduates, graduate students, and science faculty at a national university to determine the perceived fluency and needs in reading and writing English journal articles. Teachers and upperclassmen were also surveyed for their suggestions to English teachers to prepare for . reading.

Ideal Classmates Priming on Motivations and Engagement: STEM and International Studies Studentsarison of the effects of the ICP treatment on both groups provided evidence of its motivational efficacy for STEM students. Practical suggestions about implementing ideal classmates motivational treatments and pedagogical activities are given as implications for teachers.
