The Initial Stages of Electrolytic Copper Deposition: An Atomistic View,lk deposition the important role of surface imperfections as nucleation centers for Cu is highlighted with the STM. In addition, the marked influence of organic additives and of the substrate material on the morphology of the Cu deposit is demonstrated.

Electrochemical and , STM Studies of UPD and OPD of Metals in Different Model Systems,yers act as precursors for the subsequent OPD process determining the epitaxy and the nucleation and growth mechanism of the 3-D metal bulk phase. Investigations in the multicomponent systems Ag(hkl)/Pb., Tl. and Au(hkl)/Ag., Pb., Tl. demonstrate the formation of different heterostructured ultra-thin films by LIPD and OPD of metals.
