Measurement of Grazing Behaviour and Herbage Intake on Two Different Grazing Management Systems for ently the set stocked cattle had a 44% greater grazing energy expenditure than the rotationally grazed cattle. The efficiency of food conversion was greater under rotational grazing as a result of lower maintenance energy requirements.

A Comparison of Progeny Testing of Friesian Bulls Indoors and on Pastureintensity and length of fattening period. Interaction in growth parameters was greater than for carcass conformation. These results indicate that the beef testing on stations should be organised to conform as closely as possible to the average fattening environment on farm.

Heifer Performance on High Pastures and Digestibility of Pasture Grassf cattle. In particular the chemical composition and nutritive value of a native pasture located on the Prealpine hills in the NE of Italy has been examined. At the same time the effects of rotation vs continuous grazing and of previous experience of heifers to grazing have been studied.

French Beef Production Systems from Grassland reared principally on grass. Intensively reared young bulls contribute only about 14% of beef produced (Table 1) and one quarter of these are from the beef herd, and use grass during the suckling period. Dry culled cows are also often finished on pasture.
