The Long Thread of GFAP in Aging, Steroids, and Synaptic Plasticity,e of neurodegenerative diseases. Increased transcription mediates the increase of GFAP expression. We hypothesize that increased GFAP expression is a factor in age-related impairments of synaptic plasticity, and we are developing an in vitro model to test this hypothesis.
