Long-term Trends in Intra-Industry Trade role in the optimization. The deflection of the tube is proportional to the spanlength and if its limit is small it increases the optimum sizes of the tube. Another constraint is the transfer capacity. The paper shows a parametric study on these conditions.

Minimum Volume and Cost Design of a Welded Square Cellular Plate with Welded T-Stiffeners of the welded T-section stiffeners and the number of stiffener spacing, The cost function contents the cost of material, assembly and welding. The optimum is determined by a systematic search using a Mathcad program. Welded T-stiffeners are more economic than the halved rolled I-section ones.

Optimal Design of Inelastic Cylindrical Shells with Elastic Supportspports are absolutely rigid, ideal linear elastic or semi-elastic supports. The effectivity of the design is evaluated numerically in the case when the cost of the design is assessed by the mean deflection.
