Shape into Form,argument is left hanging like a loose thread, so the poem itself hangs from a position outside itself: in equipoise but changing as a reader regards it from changing positions. This is again something never attempted or achieved by Coleridge before.

Understanding Feeling, of the Ode in an 1814 essay can lead to erroneous conclusions, as can the attempt to join the argument of the Ode to that of .; and that only thereafter did his thinking begin to recover its earlier direction, with further revision and sophistication.
