Overview: Agricultural pollution (with nitrates and pesticides) is one ofthe biggest threats to drinking water resources. At many placesregional and local water authorities, together with the water supplyindustry, are involved in preventive action aimed at farmingpractices. Three national case studies (Germany, The Netherlands, andthe United Kingdom) analyse these efforts within the context ofproblematical national agricultural policy and the need to implementEU directives on water quality.
