Design and Programming of Systolic Array Cells for Signal Processing,e in parallel. In 1978, H. T. Kung and C. E. Leiserson [1] introduced systolic arrays, a parallel architectural approach that could use VLSI technology to exploit these algorithms. The word systolic was chosen because a systolic array is controlled by a global clock, so the data pulses through the array synchronously.
