Eine sorbische Petition zur Sprachenpolitik 1848/49hen mit der deutschen Sprache erhoben wurden. Diesem Bericht hatte die Redaktion der Wochenzeitung „Tydźenska Nowina“ die Frage hinzugefügt: „Wann wird wohl unsere sorbische Sprache ihr Recht erhalten?“
