Large bodies of water,It is well known that most of our globe’s surface is covered by water. Water is not only found in the oceans, but also in other large bodies such as lakes and inland seas. The morphology of such features shows some interesting traits (Figs. 7.11 to 7.14).

Niveal features,Niveal features are due to the action of snow and ice. Snow, if it accumulates, consolidates into ice which may form giant streams proceeding downhill in a manner similar to that of rivers. These ice streams are called glaciers. Figs. 8.11 to 8.13 deal with the phenomenology of snow and ice fields and glaciers.

Structural background, esign of features later affected by exogenic agents. This background is the consequence of endogenetic processes which produce stresses in the rocks forming the surface of the earth. The response of the rocks to these stresses is by undergoing deformations. These may either be continuous (Figs. 3.11 to 3.14) or discontinuous (Figs. 3.21 to 3.23).

Desert features and related phenomena, most important fact. Thus, wind remains the essential exogenic agent. The action of wind consists in the transportation of loose materials, mostly sand grains, sometimes of dust particles, and in the abrasion of surfaces by blown sand.
