Atomic Structure of Surfaces with Adsorbates,ve coverage of up to one atomic layer. Thus, multilayer thin films are beyond the scope of the chapter. Already formed (in most cases, equilibrium) structures are treated, while the dynamic processes involved in their formation will be discussed elsewhere.

Atomic Structure of Clean Surfaces,n illustrated by several examples. Of course, these examples cannot cover the diversity of atomic structures occurring at clean surfaces of crystals, but they should give an impression of what the surface might look like and what kind of physics might stand behind a particular surface structure.
