Development of the mature root growth pattern in the course of seed germination surface and on its immediate contact with soil moisture. The ensuing development of the seedling depends on the rate of primary root differentiation and achievement of maximal growth rate. Only after the root has provided the young seedling with water does the growth and development of above-ground organs begin and seedlings emerge.

These chemicals are known to be inhibitors of plant growth [1, 2, 4] and α-naphthylacetic acid (NAA) simultaneously influences morphogenesis [e.g. 5]. However, there have been few reports of the changes in ultrastructure of plant cells following treatment with these chemicals.
