Shear Strength of Soils,Shear may be defined as the tendency of one part of a soil mass to slide with respect to the other. This tendency occurs on all planes throughout the soil mass. The singular plane of interest, however, is the plane of potential failure, called the plane of rupture.

Piles, Piers, and Caissons,It is recognized that spread footings are the quickest and most cost effective way to transfer the loads of a building into the ground.
