Introduction, would live and work together in harmony. It would bring about conditions that enabled each person to realize his or her potential to the full. And it would be a society that succeeded in reconciling freedom and equality, one in which people could pursue their individual ends without jeopardizing the wellbeing of others.

Before Lenin,lism and the bourgeois civilization it upheld. And yet his socialist beliefs were significantly different from those of his great contemporary, Karl Marx. They were to be the source of the distinctively Russian socialism which became known as ‘populism’.
