Background,Single-cell protein (SCP) refers to dried microbial cells from bacteria, yeast, fungi and algae which serves as feed or/and food supplements grown in large-scale fermentation systems for use as protein sources in human food or animal feed. The general background on SCP production is presented in this chapter.
