Solar-System Observations with the VLTIrcsec or smaller. Major objectives are expected to be the search for asteroid companions, the morphological study of asteroids, satellites of outer planets and the Pluto-Charon system, and the study of distant objects. A low-resolution spectroscopic facility will be needed to provide information on the mineralogy of asteroids and satellites.

Giant Planet Formation and the Masses of Extrasolar Planetsiant planets. It is argued, that planets with Uranus/Neptune-masses are the standard outcome of the giant planet formation process, while Jupiter-type planets require special protoplanetary nebula conditions. Finally, a hydrodynamical calculation of the formation of a giant planet at an orbital distance of 0.05 AU is presented.

On the Detection of Exo-zodiacal Light by Nulling Interferometry with the Magellan Telescopesgh on-axis rejection ability, for the central star, and very good detection sensitivity at 10 μm wavelength, for the zodiacal thermal emission. In its non-nulling mode, working in the range 1 to 10 μm, the interferometer could address a wide range of astrophysical issues.
