Sampled-Data Models for Linear Deterministic Systems models for linear systems with deterministic inputs are first considered, for which exact sampled-data model can be obtained. Unless stated explicitly otherwise, it is assumed that the anti-aliasing filter, if present, is included as part of the continuous-time system model.

Incremental Sampled-Data Models sampled-data model relates to the original continuous-time model, when a fast sampling rate is used. It is shown that a simple reparameterization of the sampled model in the so called incremental (or delta) form, is required in order to recover the continuous-time model when the sampling period goes to zero.

Approximate Models for Nonlinear Deterministic SystemsThis chapter extends the ideas presented in Chap. . to develop discrete-time models for nonlinear deterministic systems. In particular, we develop sampled models based on up-sampling and on truncated Taylor series expansion of the normal form. The approximation errors are precisely characterized.
