On the chemistry of some salt lakes and ponds in Yugoslavia,elp us to understand processes important for all lakes, including those exposed to less extreme physic-chemical regimes (Eugster & Hardie 1978). Unfortunately, with some exceptions, they characterize arid regions and are generally accessible for continuous study only with difficulty (Williams 1978).

On the chemistry and biota of some saline lakes in Western Australia, occur between lakes in these two regions, the only major differences being the presence of dense angiosperm beds (. and .) and several invertebrates with marine affinities in some of the South Australian lakes.
