Many different neurodegenerative disorders involve excessive activation of caspases and calpains including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s diseases and stroke. Experimental findings suggest that caspase and/or calpain inhibitors can attenuate neuronal degeneration in models of these neurodegenerative disorders.
