Transformation of the Private SectorThe creation of an important state sector, with the associated problems of production on the state farms, was one part of the story of Cuba’s first agrarian reform. In addition, while the state sector was being created, the private sector was being transformed. Tables 6.1 and 6.2 have provided a picture of both aspects of the reform’s impact.
