Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer and Advancement in Its Treatment in Japanng started in 1992 using the immunological fecal occult blood test in Japan. According to joint study of 864,652 asymptomatic subjects, positive rate was 8.0%. Cancer was found in 0.17%, and 53.2% of cancer detected was early cancer. Efficasy of this screening, however, remains uncertain.

Evaluation of Early Detection and Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinomaectability. The 5-year survival of 391 patients with subclinical HCC after resection was as high as 60.5%. It is concluded that screening using AFP and/or ultrasonography in high risk population and treated with resection is of proved merit to improve survival of patients with HCC.
