Availablethroughout the radio spectrum, these lines carry informationregarding the density, temperature, turbulence and velocity ofthermal plasmas. Their very existance shows the presence of thermalgas. They also can carry information regarding magnetic fields ifZeeman splitting were to be detected. .Containing the proceedings of an IAU Colloquium celebrating the 25thanniversary of their detection, this volume tells us what hashappened since. It contains the story of the detection of RRLs andreviews of many areas of physics of the interstellargas from whichstars form, HII regions excited by newly formed stars, planetarynebulae involving dying stars, and the structure of our Milky Way andother galaxies reflecting the large-scale morphology of the starformation process. In addition there is an article describing modernlaboratory studies of Rydberg atoms to probe the basic physics ofatomic structure, and articles describing the theory of collisionsand radiation upon Rydberg atoms leading to observate effects to beused as diagnostic tools in astromony. .This | 出版日期 | Conference proceedings 1990 | 关键词 | Astronomical Observation; Galaxy; star; stars; stellar | 版次 | 1 | doi | https://doi.org/10.1007/978-94-009-0625-9 | isbn_softcover | 978-94-010-6768-3 | isbn_ebook | 978-94-009-0625-9Series ISSN 0067-0057 Series E-ISSN 2214-7985 | issn_series | 0067-0057 | copyright | Kluwer Academic Publishers 1990 |
