Keldysh Approximation Revisitedthod is to treat photodetachment from a bound state by assuming that the dynamics of the detached electron are dominated by the applied field, and hence to describe the detached electron by a Volkov wave function. The Volkov wave function is an exact solution for a free, charged particle in a plane-wave electromagnetic field.
