We feel we intuitively understand it. Mathematically, probability problems are easily defined. Yet when we try to obtain a precise physical definition, we find the concept often slips through our grasp.

Some Results Independent of Specific Distributions,We could start out and derive some of the standard probability distributions. However, some very important and deep results are independent of individual distributions. It is very easy to think that many results are true for normal distributions only when in fact they are generally true.

Queueing Theory and Other Probability Questions,Queueing theory is the theory of standing in lines. We stand in lines waiting for a teller machine at a bank, in checkout lines at grocery stores, and in many other places. Switch computer jobs are in a queue. Processing incoming data events in an experiment may involve queueing theory. We start with an example of this latter process.
