描述New technologies demand new materials. Polymer composites, withtheir wide range of possible fillers and polymers, open the way to anenormous range of materials with differing chemical, physical, andmechanical properties. The ultimate goal of polymer composite researchis to formulate procedures that will lead to the design of compositeswith preset, i.e. specified, properties. .Based on many years‘ experience in the field, the authors prepare theway towards just such a design procedure. The key element is theanalysis and classification of the state of the filler-polymerinterfaces from the point of view of their acid-base adsorptioninteractions. These interfacial phenomena play a pivotal role indetermining overall properties of the composite: its rheologicalbehaviour, its structural properties, catalytic effects inpolymerization and polycondensation, and other technologicalcharacteristics. .The book discusses and evaluates the extensive previous researchscattered throughout the literature in Eastern Europe and the West,presents numerous experimental studies, and sets new benchmarks forthe analysis of polymer composites.
