Role of Antioxidants in Hypoxia-Reoxygenation Injury in the Heart and in Cardiac Myocytes,The studies initiated by our group (1–5) and others (6,7) in order to elucidate the effect of α-tocopherol on heart function have stimulated further investigations in order to clarify, in this muscle, the role of antioxidants in the prevention of the peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and in the stabilization of the biological membranes.
