Effect of Tip Apex on STM and STSently. This paper demonstrates the variation of STM images with the number of apex atoms and the apex profile of a scanning tip. The demonstration extends to the effects of the adsorbed atoms at the tip apex and the apex profile on tunneling characteristics.
