Jacks.,ith petioles forming a pseudostem, and deciduous. Inflorescence arises from the side of leafy pseudobulb. Raceme is nodding and crowded with medium-sized, partially open flowers in white or pink. Lip is three-lobed, yellow. Herbs are annuals shedding their leaves and staying dormant during the dry season (Pearce and Cribb 2002).

Lindl.,d, ovate, soft, velvety, tessellated leaves. Inflorescence is terminal, erect, bearing numerous, non-resupinate flowers. Lip is uppermost, twisted and asymmetric. There are a few man-made intergeneric hybrids with other Jewel Orchids (Holttum 1964).
