Layout and Generalized Shape Optimization by Iterative COC Methodsading conditions is presented and it is found that for that case, the optimal plastic design differs from the optimal elastic design. Finally, the problem of generalized shape optimization is reviewed and an improved homogenization method is put forward.

Truss Topology Optimization by a Displacements Based Optimality Criterion Approachlving of the equilibrium equations and the assembly of the global stiffness matrix. A large number of examples have been studied, showing the attractive features of topology design as well as exposing interesting features of optimal topologies.
