Species A are definitely the most reactive and comprise the sites active for ethylene polymerization.

Degradation of Polymers by Metathesis Catalysts investigation of copolymers, identification of isomeric structures in subsequently modified polymers, proof of a random distribution of the reaction sites in polymer-analogous reactions, and evidence of reactions at substituents. Application of metathesis degradation is in suitable cases superior to spectroscopic investigation methods.
