描述.This book introduces a variety of aspects in nonperturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), focusing on the topological objects present in gauge theories. These objects, like magnetic monopoles, instantons, instanto-dysons, sphalerons, QCD flux tubes, etc, are first introduced individually and, later, treated collectively. As ensembles, they produce various phenomena that can be modeled numerically in lattice gauge theories and such collective effects, produced on the lattice, are extensively discussed in some chapters. In turn, the notion of duality, which is crucial in modern field/string theories, is elucidated by taking into consideration the electric-magnetic duality, the Poisson duality, and the AdS/CFT duality..This monograph is based on various lectures given by Edward Shuryak at Stony Brook during the last three decades and it is meant for advanced graduate students and young researchers in theoretical and mathematical physics who are willing to consolidate theirknowledge in the topological phenomena encountered in fundamental QCD research..

Monopoles,that electric charge can be divided into positive and negative charges, while the magnets, if cut, still produce only dipoles, with the so-called north and south poles each. In other words, it was observed that it is not experimentally possible to separate magnetic charges.

Instanton Ensembles,ranslational zero modes are substituted by an integral over collective coordinates—the instanton location in 4-d—the tunneling amplitude for an instanton is proportional to the four-volume .. considered.

Light-Front Wave Functions, Exclusive Processes and Instanton-Induced Quark Interactions, symmetries..One was related to properties of strange partners of better known particles, with . substituting pions, .. substituting . mesons, Λ, Σ hyperons substituting nucleons, etc. It lead Gell-Mann and Neeman to the so called “eightfold way”, their classification via the . representation of the flavor .(3) group.

Holographic QCD,h. It does not have the same status as AdS/CFT correspondence discussed above but obviously a set of made-up models, which however can be rather instructive. We start with two particular models, to be generalized later.

Gauge Field Topology and Instantons,Topological invariants are a traditional field in mathematics, and we will need those in a form discovered by Chern and Simons (.). Generally, they exist in a different form in odd and even dimensional spaces and are related in a curious way.
