This has stimulated a rapidly growing number of experimental investigations of chaos in different semiconductor materials, and under a variety of conditions. Stationary Transverse Spatial Structures,carrier g-r mechanisms, while the last two consider two-carrier mechanisms. Dissipative structures in semiconductors, like current filaments, do not only essentially influence the current-voltage characteristics, but can also be observed directly in experiments.

Stability of Transverse Spatial Structures,elation .(.) does not work for small fluctuations from a spatially .homogeneous steady state. However, we will be able to prove general qualitative results on stability, and compute the linear modes analytically in some important special cases. Throughout the present chapter we restrict ourselves to single-carrier g-r mechanisms.
