Electrical and Optical Properties of Twisted Nematic Structuresrated. When known or reasonable estimated values of elastic, viscous, dielectric and optical parameters and of director orientation at the surfaces are used, computed optical behavior agrees well with experimental observations. Effects of adjusting cell thickness, applied field and other parameters are discussed.

Electrochromic Display Devicesical examples are discussed in detail. Correct display performance can be obtained by the use of proper electronic addressing systems. A review of the possibilities is given. Theoretical as well as practical performance characteristics are discussed critically and present results are evaluated.

Short Communication: Temperature Dependence of Multiplexed Twisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Displayso be multiplexed. Nevertheless, we have recently reported on performance of multiplexed TN-LCDs with satisfactory operating properties between 0 and 50° C. and have other laboratory displays with improved performance which will operate satisfactorily from -6 to +66° C.

Chemical Composition and Display Performances depend on the viscosities. The rheological behavior of liquid crystals and its temperature dependence is discussed briefly. The paper concludes with remarks on the double refraction of liquid crystals and their decomposition under the influence of heat, electric fields, radiation and chemical reagents.
