描述.This book describes efficient and safe repair operations for pipelines, and develops new methods for the detection and repair of volumetric surface defects in transmission pipelines. It also addresses the physics, mechanics, and applications of advanced materials used for composite repair of corroded pipelines..Presenting results obtained in the European Commission’s INNOPIPES FRAMEWORK 7 programme, it develops long-range ultrasonic and phased array technologies for pipeline diagnostics, and explores their interactions with discontinuities and directional properties of ultrasonic antenna array. Dynamic Properties of Thin-Walled Structures Under Changing Pressure Conditions in the Contact Fluidtermines the form of the oscillation. The results are given on example of the aluminum plate oscillations for a number of frequencies by varying air pressure density. The results are compared with experimental data.

Long-Range Ultrasonic and Phased Array Technologies. An attempt is performed at summarizing the advantages and shortcomings of pipelines’ control with low-frequency ultrasonic waves, using phased array technology. Advantages, shortcomings, applications, and limitations of the method are present. Sensitivity of the method is analyzed to discontinuity and constituents of the pipeline.

Characterization of Elastic Properties of Metals and Composites by Laser-Induced Ultrasoundocities. The paper considers several experimental arrangements, which combine laser excitation of probe ultrasonic pulses and their detection for measuring the velocities of longitudinal and shear pulses. The features of detection in single crystal and polycrystalline nickel as well as steel specimens are discussed.
