Aspects of Data Flow for an Edison-Type Observatory,e in the near (2–50 .m) infrared and having a mission lifetime often to twenty years. This would be achieved using a passively cooled mirror and an instrumental package whose passive cooling is aided by a mechanical cooler. The data-flow to and from such a telescope would be large and thus the data-flow design merits careful consideration.
