Carbon Fluoride Cathode for Lithium Cellsine is an element of high electronegativity with a strong tendency to the formation of fluorides (redox potential of the F./F. system is +2.87 V). Fluorine points out a weak polarizability and it has a small size (1.35 Å). The molecule of fluorine is highly reactive due to the low dissociation energy (36 kcal/mol).

Additional advantages of the present cathode material over the conventional metal oxides are the ease in disposal by incineration, the low pollution and the low cost.
