Studies on the Origin of the Granulated and Nongranulated Vesiclesly less than 1% of the volume is occupied by axially oriented material composed of neurotubules and neurofilaments (. and ., 1953 ; . and ., 1956) after sectioning the proximal stump becomes loaded with mitochondria, neurotubules and numerous clear and dense core (i.e. granulated) vesicles (for lit. see ., 1964; . It was with great pleasure that I accepted this invitation, since for my own part I greatly welcome this kind of symposia in which the chosen field is of relatively small compass and can therefore be discussed with great intensity.
