Plasticity of Astrocytes in Culture phenotypes (Patterson and Chun, 1977a,b; Doupe et al., 1985; Wolinsky et al., 1985; Kentroti and Vernadakis, 1990, 1992, 1995). Neuronal plasticity has also been encountered in the adult CNS as several recent studies on regeneration have shown (. Chapter 9, in this volume).

The Organization of Astrocytes in the Goldfish Visual Systemss cytokeratins, and the rest of the brain, like the retina, contains radial glia expressing GFAP. In what follows, the author will examine each of these compartments in some detail and discuss the possible functional significance of the region-to-region variation that characterizes the astrocytic population of the goldfish visual system.
