In stores and at the market we haggle over the price of goods, in professional life we attempt to negotiate a higher income, employers and employees bargain over working conditions and wages, politicians strive or compete for power and influence.

The Mediator, the Facilitator,vely shapes the negotiation procedure as a self-interested party. In the following, I use the term ‘mediator’ or ‘mediation’ as generic term for all peaceful activities which infl uence solution-oriented action and are induced by third parties.
