We provide their derivation, comment on the stress tensor, and thermodynamics, finally we present some elementary properties and also some exact solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations.

Mathematical Preliminaries,In this chapter we introduce the basic preliminary mathematical tools to study the Navier–Stokes equations, including results from linear and nonlinear functional analysis as well as the theory of function spaces. We present, in particular, some of the most frequently used in the sequel embedding theorems and differential inequalities.
