Variety of Magnetic Phases in Nanocrystalline Fe-based Metallic Glassesmeasured at different temperatures were analyzed in terms of the well-known Langevin approach. At sufficiently low temperature (e.g., at room temperature), lower than the Curie points of both, the amorphous matrix and the particles, the sample behaves ferromagnetically in a way as it does for the typical commercial material.

Magnetism of Nanocrystalline Particles observed in smoke particles, for sizes below 150 Å. The magnetic and structural data are consistent with a core-shell morphology where the core is metallic and the shell a polycrystalline metal-oxide. The surface magnetic oxide layer is found to enhance the coercivity of the particles and bring about a strong temperature dependence.

In ensembles of small particles the reduction of coercivity owing to long-range magnetostatic and short-range exchange coupling is less significant.

Mesoscopic Quantum Tunneling in Amorphous Magnets with Strong Random-Axis Anisotropys. This result points out, for the first time, to a mesoscopic scale quantum tunneling of the magnetisation in 3-dimensional systems with strong random magnetic anisotropy. The determined average tunneling volumes are of the order of the short-range ferromagnetically correlated volumes existing in these systems.
