, Cs (cesium),Caesium salts used in the manufacture of electronic high vacuum valves result in the reduction of caesium from the chloride salt by molten barium metal. This is a by-product of the high vacuum process required by modern electronic equipment and is not a real source of the metal.

, Ca,Calcium resembles aluminium and magnesium in many of its properties but is more difficult to cast as it oxidizes much more rapidly. It is also much softer and more ductile, being readily cut with a knife and bent by hand. Although it burns readily in air it is not subject to spontaneous combustion and can be safely handled.
