Cyclic Stress in Polycrystalline Copperrast to that of flow stress in cyclic straining. This is understood in terms of the effective-to-total stress ratio given by the instantaneous strain rate on local scale. Thus, due to slip inhomogenity, the effective stress is nonuniform too, having a low average value matching the data of cyclic straining.

Crack Initiation by Low Cycle Fatigue of Al-Mg-Si Alloysthe homogenisation heat treatment. In such a case one can expect that the first microcracks of 10 µm length will be observed after 40% to 60% of the fatigue life. They mainly initiate at coarse inclusions containing iron. The mean fatigue lives of different alloys were found to vary within a factor of 3.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Early Propagation in Polycrystalline Copper growth rate has been found to be approximately constant in the initial stage and proportional to the crack length in the later stage. The crack initiation length and the crack initiation rate were evaluated for the applied stress and plastic strain amplitude. The use of these quantities facilitates the fatigue life prediction.
