Five-Membered ,Heterocycle Synthesis,istry. The thiophene compounds and their derivatives are an important class of heterocyclic compounds which show a wide range of biological activities. Lawesson’s reagent is a general sulfuration reagent which can convert carbonyl group of aldehydes, ketones, amides, or esters to thiocarbonyl species.
